East Hartford has two senior centers located in the North End at 30 Remington Road and in the South End at 70 Canterbury Street. The facilities are open to all East Hartford residents age 55 and over. Membership is not required. Call 860-568-4281 or 860-895-1517 for more information.
SeniorNet Computer Learning Center
SeniorNet is dedicated to teaching computer skills to older adults. Located in the South End Senior Center, courses include Introduction to Computer, Internet and Email, Quicken, Graphics, Word Processing, and Digital Photography.
Fitness Classes for All Fitness Levels
Energetic Exercise - aerobic exercise through cardio, stretching, resistance exercises, and interval training.
Powerful Aging – aerobic exercise with weight training, floor and step exercises, and stretching.
Tai Chi – slow moving form of exercise. Strengthens and tones muscles to improve balance, posture, and helps you to relax.
Yoga – enhances balance, strength and flexibility through various poses and breathing techniques. Good for the mind and body.
Senior Pool Aerobics - low-impact, easy and fun way to stay fit. Located at the EH Middle School.
Zumba Gold - low impact aerobic exercise to Latin Dance music. So much fun you forget you're exercising.
Dance
Belly Dancing is offered once a week. It is a fun way to express yourself and exercise. All shapes and sizes are welcome!
Tap Dance Lessons are given at the Senior Center. It is good exercise and an enjoyable social activity.
Square Dancing offered bythe South Windsor Square Dance Club meets pm Wednesday evenings at the North End Senior Center at 7:30 PM. Beginner lessons are available. Admission is $5.
